About Alan Guarino

Leaders confer with him. They hire him to help them execute their strategies.
Most importantly, they trust him.

Alan C. Guarino is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1982. His father immigrated to the United States in the 1920’s, and then left school after the eighth grade, Alan was raised by working class parents to value service, and strive to achieve. Like many Baby Boomers, he has lived the American Dream—rising from humble beginnings to become a trusted advisor to global leaders.

After attaining the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army and commanding a combat arms company in the Second Squadron, Sixth Cavalry, Alan began a successful Wall Street career at The Bank of New York. At age 33, he launched and bootstrapped a consulting firm, ran it for a decade, and sold it to Adecco, a $30 billion global staffing company at the time. Today, he serves as Vice Chairman of Korn Ferry, the world’s top-ranked leadership and talent consulting firm.

Over the course of his career, Alan has advised and recruited hundreds of top executives—guiding careers, transforming boards, and helping organizations around the world execute their strategies. His work includes CEO search projects for the CEO of E*TRADE during the global financial crisis, recruiting General Michael Linnington as CEO for the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP, and the President of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, just to name a few.

Alan also served on the board of Chef’s Warehouse during its major post-IPO expansion, helping scale the company from $300 million to nearly $4 billion in annual revenue, with operations extending from the U.S. to Dubai.

He has counseled leaders across sectors—corporate, nonprofit, government, and education—and is a sought-after confidant by sovereign wealth funds and global CEOs alike. He is expert on the nuanced differences between Baby Boomers, GenX, and Millennials in the context of their aspirations and their competencies, traits, and drivers which are foundational to their career journeys.
